It’s no wonder that Key West’s Old Island Restoration Foundation (OIRF) is ready to party. After all, turning 60 doesn’t happen every day. But unlike most birthdays, this is no one day event.
OIRF’s 60th Anniversary Celebration starts with a big Kick-Off Party on Thursday, November 14th from 5 – 7pm in Lily’s Garden at The Oldest House Museum, 322 Duval Street.
This special event celebrates Key West’s architecture, culture and history with Historic Home Tour Posters, exhibits, the ceremonial return of an original Captain Francis Watlington painting, wine tasting, small bites and more.
But that’s just the beginning.
There will also be a ton of other events happening through March 31st including “High Tea” in Lily’s Garden, a Garden Lecture Series, the Mario Sanchez Scavenger Hunt, a Gingerbread House Making Party, Christmas Eve Feast, Historic Home Tours, New Year’s Eve Gala, Conch Blowing Contest and many other sponsored events throughout the island.
The non-profit Old Island Restoration Foundation is responsible for the preservation and restoration of historically significant buildings. Over the years, OIRF has raised and granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain the Oldest House Museum and to award grants to restore historical buildings in Key West.
It truly is a wonderful organization worth celebrating. Hope you’ll join us at one of the many great events they have in store. More info at 305-294-95-2; oirf.org.
