Artist Letty Nowak may be renowned for her powerfully large five-by-six foot portraits, but she also knows that small works of art can have just as big of an impact.

Owner of Key West’s acclaimed Jag Gallery, Nowak launched the island’s first SMALL WORKS exhibit back in 2005 at her former Lemonade Stand art gallery in historic Bahama Village

Since then, this annual juried exhibit has become one of the Keys’ most highly anticipated art events. Over the last sixteen years, it has showcased thousands of artists from across the globe.

SMALL WORKS 2023, which just opened last weekend, is a really BIG show that features two hundred winning 2 and 3D works curated from this year’s near record breaking field of accomplished artists from Miami to Milan, along with some special Key West favorites.

You’ll be absolutely fascinated by the scope of these original works (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and textile) that do not exceed ten inches in any one direction — including the frame!

SMALL WORKS 2023 runs now through November 28 followed by “The Art of Giving” featuring the works of Kaline Carter. Carter, the ever popular Albuquerque – based contemporary abstract painter, is known for his signature architectural style. Carter returns to Key West for this special holiday exhibition with new works and a few surprises. He is also generously donating a portion of the proceeds to Key West based Samuel’s House, and to their mission of nurturing the lives of homeless women, women with children, and families. Carter’s work opens on Friday, December 1 with a special Opening Reception from 5 – 7pm and continues through Sunday, December 31.

Considered one of the Key’s top destinations for fine, contemporary art showcasing prominent artists from Key West and beyond, JAG Gallery is open Tuesday – Sunday from Noon to 5 and always by appointment. You can find it at 1075 Duval Street, Space C23 (between Duval and Simonton Streets). Info: 305-407-6202; jaggallery.art
