When it comes to the music of Motown, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for local celebrity, Allison Mayer.
Acclaimed singer, dancer, performer, producer, and lifelong Key West “Conch,” Mayer is a living legend. Her roster of accolades is impressive and includes singing back-up for Barbara Streisand, as well as performing for former President Bill Clinton and VP Al Gore.
As the founder of “The Fabulous Spectrelles Revue,” Allison Mayer, aka “Baby Tracy Spectrelle,” and her talented group launched their first show in 1983 to a sold-out crowd at Key West’s historic Casa Marina. Little did Mayer know then that it was a night that would forever change her life.
By 1991, “The Fabulous Spectrelles” had a #1 Hit Record with Almighty Records and performed with some of Motown’s biggest stars, including Chuck Berry, the Coasters, the Drifters, and other notables. In 1996, Mayer’s “Fabulous Spectrelles” also scored a #1 spot on London’s “Top 50 Hits” list for their rendition of “Come See About Me.” That #1 hit record catapulted the group to international stardom and is still available today.
With an extraordinary and storied showbiz career spanning over forty years, “Baby Tracy Spectrelle” and her legendary revue continue to shake things up in hometown Key West.
“The Fabulous Spectrelles,” with Mayer at the helm, is now regaled as Key West’s longest-running live show. Mayer’s immersive, rollicking ride down memory lane pays tribute to some of the world’s most renowned Motown and Doo-Wop groups from the 50’s and 60’s. Her legendary revue celebrates “the sound that changed America,” and relives the magic of Motown’s greatest hits.
