Sloan Centennial Flag Display
Key West: Preserved by six generations of the Sloan family and last displayed publicly during the Bicentennial in 1976, this rare 12-by-18-foot, 13-star American flag is believed to date to the nation’s 1876 Centennial. The celebrated flag connects America’s Centennial, Bicentennial, and now it’s 250th anniversary. Key West: Independence Day kicks off energetically with the annual Rotary Club of Key West 4th of July 5K, then shifts to the Southernmost Beach for an abundance of activities leading up to the World-Famous Key Lime Pie Eating Championship. Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary — July 4th Parade, Picnic & Fireworks
Marathon: The Marathon Rotary’s Annual 4th of July Celebration is always a blast — especially this year! Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary includes a full day of beachside activities beginning with a Patriotic Parade at 11 am. The march begins at Marathon High School at 350 Sombrero Beach Rd and heads to Sombrero Beach for lots of fun and games. Feast on grilled hot dogs and hamburgers; get in on the cornhole tournament; and enjoy some great live music. Lots of kids’ games, too! Fireworks go off at around 9 pm, backdropped by patriotic music from US1 Radio 104.1. Boaters are encouraged to watch from the beach or even offshore of Sombrero Beach. Islamorada: It’s all about family fun, food, and fireworks, when the islands of Islamorada light up the night with a festive evening under the stars. The celebration includes live music, food trucks, libations, a Patriotic People & Puppy Parade, a Costume Contest, face-painting, inflatables, and a spectacular firework show after sunset. Key Largo: Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with a festive 4th of July Parade, which rolls out at 9:45 am from MM 98 – 100. Celebrating America’s 250-Year Anniversary —Marathon’s America-Fest
Marathon: This one-of-a-kind patriotic celebration marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence which happened on August 2, 1776! The festivities kick off with games and music, followed by an interactive treasure hunt, and a special outdoor screening of “National Treasure.” Throughout the night, there will also be free hot dogs, chips, and drinks, plus plenty of entertainment for everyone. Kids can play in the game zone, while a live DJ keeps the energy high with music and dancing under the summer sky.
