Peter VeyPeter Vey paints places that most people only dream about, and his canvases are as dazzling as his surroundings. Vey’s newest exhibition, Key West Style, opens on Saturday, February 19, from 5 – 8pm and runs for three weeks at Key West’s renowned Gallery on Greene.

For over a quarter-century, Vey has chronicled the simple pleasures of tropical living with paintings that capture the effortless elegance of Key West & The Florida Keys. Using only an artist’s palette knife, Vey lays down explosive colors that reflect the bright, washed-out light of the islands. His lush vegetation, white sand beaches, breathtaking skies, and local architecture echo the vibrant glow of the sun-drenched tropics.

In addition to being a favorite of collectors, Vey’s work has graced the covers of innumerable magazines and has been featured in the Netflix series, Bloodline, as well as the film Heart of a Lion.

Along with the majority of The Gallery on Greene artists, his paintings have been shown at the Newseum Museum in Washington DC. Vey’s unique view, fresh colors, and mastery of painting techniques make works remarkable for their sense of place.
