Used to be that when someone said “Pawn Shop,” a little voice in my head would say, “eh, maybe not.”
But that all changed when I popped into Keys Pawn a couple of years ago and met an English chap named Melvyn Franks. Melvyn is a luxury wholesale watches, jewelry, and diamond dealer originally from London. He first started out as a jewelry manufacturer before becoming a wholesale dealer. For decades, Melvin worked out of Miami, where other dealers from all over the world searched him out for the finest vintage Rolexes, high-end jewelry, rare antiques, and collectibles at super low prices
With forty years under his belt, Melvin has a nifty little gig in Islamorada and knows every part of the business inside and out. In 2016, he and his wife, Rebecca Nachlas, opened their first brick & mortar in Tavernier before moving to larger digs in Islamorada. The inventory at their new Islamorada shop is not only larger but constantly changing. You can expect the same stellar products as they showcased in their original Tavernier location plus a whole lot more — all available at well below retail.
And here’s the thing: you don’t have to be a high-roller to shop here. The price points work for just about everyone, regardless of your budget, and the selection is always phenomenal.
