Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, and as the fall season rolls in, it’s almost time to release the pumpkins. However, the scarecrows are not waiting.
Starting on Thursday, October 1, you will see all kinds of delightful straw people peering out from behind the fifteen acres of tropical plants and trees at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden.
“Scarecrows in the Forest” is a lighthearted exhibit showcasing scarecrows crafted from natural and recycled materials by local artists, students, and other community members. Past entries range from traditional scarecrow figures to a colorful lionfish and a “bird creature” incorporating native vegetation. Cash prizes are awarded in several categories, with “Best in Show” chosen by garden visitors. Be sure to cast your vote!
