Authentic Down-Home Thai Food
Chef/Owner Atchana Capellini grew up in northern Thailand, where the food is spicier than in other parts of the country. Atchana likes to refer to it as “country-bumpkin” Thai. Call it what you will, but know this: everything on Atchana’s authentic menu is absolutely fantastic. Get the party started with the zesty Asian Dumplings — steamed or fried with chicken or veggies; the intriguing “Son-In-Law-Eggs” — crispy hard-boiled eggs with a house-made sweet and savory sauce; or the Seared Ahi Tuna with sesame noodles, peppers, ginger, and garlic. Large dish standouts include the Crispy Duck with a traditional 5-spice sauce; Basil Ribs with fresh herbs, coated with flavorful spices; and the Curried Shrimp Pineapple Fried Rice. FYI: Atchana’s Pad Thai is incredibly wonderful — not because it’s a signature Thai dish, but because her singular preparation is over the moon!

An Authentic Taste of India
With a dining room that falls somewhere between red-velvet regal and “Slum Dog” casual, this real-deal ethnic mainstay is where Miami’s Indian community finds an authentic taste of home. Bombay’s menu focuses on signature dishes from northern India. Every meal begins with a complimentary stack of crisp poppadom with thimbles of thick-cut onion chutney and fresh coriander for dipping. Baked to order in a tandoor clay oven, the fresh flat breads are all delicious, but the Paneer Naan, stuffed with house-made cheese and seasonings, is excellent. Also not to be missed: the perfectly cooked Tandoori Chicken Wings marinated in yogurt, herbs, and spices; the Boneless Lamb Pasanda in creamy cashew sauce; and Boneless Chicken Vindaloo and potatoes cooked in medium spicy or hot sauce. Lots of vegetarian dishes, too!

Cuban-American Diner
Chef Michael Beltran sums up his restaurant pretty succinctly: “If an American Diner and
a Cuban cafeteria had a baby; it would be Chug’s.” For Cubans, Chug’s is an adventurous take on food they grew up on. For Americans, it’s a hybrid that makes old favorites more fun. Chug’s is two layers of comfort food that reflect the city’s dual identity and have earned the diner a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide for several years running. In addition to the diner’s All-Day Breakfast, you can also order all kinds of creative Handhelds, as well as Entrees like Plantain Crusted Snapper, Chicken Milanese, and slow-cooked Short Rib Boliche — a modern twist on Cuban pot roast with sunny side up eggs and white rice.

One Dish Is All It Takes
You wouldn’t think that a place that only has one main dish on the menu could make it. Especially in South Miami’s highly competitive restaurant scene. And yet, against
all odds, Cotoletta is not only surviving — it’s thriving. Like a treasured family heirloom, the recipe for the restaurant’s signature Veal Milanese dish was passed down to third-generation restaurateur, Andrea Fraquelli, by his late Italian grandfather. Fraquelli, along with partners Ignacio Lopez Mancisidor and Mattia Cicognani, was so confident in the Northern Italian dish that they decided to build an entire restaurant around it. And here it is: The Cotoletta alla Milanese. Lightly pan-fried in butter and oil to golden perfection, the big, juicy bone-in veal chop comes dressed with fresh rosemary and lemon zest. It’s quite an impressive dish meant to be shared by two people and comes with your choice of salad, house fries, or Spaghetti al Pomodoro e Basilico. Authentic Italian desserts, available for an additional charge, are just as inspired. For a real treat, order the Vanilla Affogato Supreme: Italian gelato topped with a double shot of espresso.

The Ritz-Carlton’s swanky signature restaurant tributes to Isabella Peacock, the woman

A Rooftop Oasis With An Easy Vibe
Classic Spanish cuisine, with a modern urban twist, is the signature of one of the Grove’s hippest hangs. Connecting is what it’s all about: through great food and craft cocktails, a thoughtfully curated playlist, and a smooth and effortless vibe. As you might expect, there’s
a big selection of tasty Tapas — small plates meant to be shared. With almost two dozen options on the menu, it can be a bit overwhelming. The Spanish Charcuterie is always a perennial favorite, as is the Tuna Tartare and Hamachi Crudo with jalapeño, basil, kalamansi, and yuzu kosho. The Mediterranean Mussels, with chorizo sausage, and the Argentine Shrimp with harissa and parsley are also first-rate. And while you can easily make a meal out of just a handful of these delicious dishes, it behooves you to save room for the larger sharing plates. With three kinds of Paella and several steak, fish, and chicken dishes, you will have found your Nirvana.

Just Amazing
This innovative dim sum restaurant, which originally hails from the Big Apple, is now shaking things up in the Sunshine State. Executive Chef Joe Ng is a human tsunami when it comes to creating innovative Chinese fare. Especially notable is his playful approach to the scratch-made dumplings and his amazing dim sum creations. Ng’s over-the-top “Pac-Man Shrimp Dumplings” actually resemble characters from the iconic arcade game! Big, bold flavors are at the heart of every whimsical dish here and the restaurant’s signature Peking Duck is so good that China’s Central TV hailed it as being the finest preparation outside China.

Innovative Spanish Cuisine
This intriguing new dining hotspot is a welcome addition to the Coral Gables food-centric neighborhood. Owners, Juan Diego and Nicole Canahuati, named their family-run eatery, Arcano (the Spanish word for “mystery”), to reflect the surprises they have in store for their patrons. Rooted in Hispano-American tradition, Arcana’s innovative dishes, reasonable prices, and inviting vibe do indeed exceed expectations. Designed for sharing, the curated menu brims with flavorful preparations inspired by different countries and regions. “High Five” Starters include the Spanish-style Trio de Croquetas (crab, calamari infused with squid ink, and shrimp); Calamares On “Fire” (roasted squid, chorizo, grilled pineapple, jalapeño, flor de Jamaica, and cilantro); and the Crudo de Lomito (beef tenderloin carpaccio, coffee emulsion, watercress, Honduran cheese, and ancestral seeds). Large Plates are just as enticing. Especially outstanding is the Jarrete de Cordero — a fall-apart Braised Lamb Shank with herb gremolata, pickled onions, Oaxaca cheese, and fresh corn tortillas. Another chart-topper: the battered Corvina Margarita Filet with coconut stew and cilantro-lime rice. You’ll also find more casual Street Food options that include a 1/2 lb—Wagyu Beef Brisket Burger; Crispy Pork Belly Tortillas; and a Yucatán-Style Barbecued Pork Sandwich.

Ford’s seasonal menu also features a smattering of fish, chicken, and pasta options, which may showcase fresh Bronzino A La Plancha; Crispy-Skinned Faroe Island Salmon; or Butcher’s Bolognese, made with Toscani pasta, dry-aged sirloin bolognese, pecorino, basil, and truffle breadcrumbs.

The Art of Pasta
As one of Coral Gables’ oldest restaurants, this neighborhood’s favorite certainly has stood the test of time. Regaled for the fresh, handcrafted pastas and famous lasagna,
Bugatti quietly opened its doors over three decades ago — but not as a restaurant. Back then, it was just a small storefront selling authentic Italian creations “to go.” Over the last thirty years, Bugatti’s “retail kitchen” evolved into a full-service Bistro and is now one of the hottest tables in town. Tradition, not innovation, is the mantra here, and star chef David Acosta delivers. His authentic creations are a Master Class in simplicity. A perfect example is the chilled Vichyssoise soup. Made daily, Acosta transforms puréed leeks, potatoes, onions, and cream into a luxurious bowl of silky-smooth deliciousness. Subtle undertones of fennel are the crowning touch. The Pasta menu features a litany of Old-World favorites, including a rich Pasta Bolognese, Maine Lobster Ravioli, and Penne dressed in a creamy leek-kissed tomato sauce spiked with a touch of brandy. Also noteworthy: the Roasted Salmon filet with capers, shallots, and braised fennel; Saffron-Infused Risotto with Shrimp, parmesan, and sweet peas; and the Chicken Saltimbocca with prosciutto, sage, and a marsala reduction. FYI: Wednesday is the only day you can snag Bugatti’s famous chart-topping Lasagna. It’s elbow room only, so get there early!

Swoon-Worthy Northern Italian
Although this may be an iconic hot spot for Miami’s movers and shakers, you don’t have to be an insider to feel right at home. But what really makes this family-owned landmark so popular is the glorious food. The well-executed menu showcases master-class preparations of quintessential Northern Italian dishes. Upscale, homemade pasta and risotto dishes include classic Fettuccine Bolognese; traditional Veal-Stuffed Cannelloni; and Risotto with Porcini mushrooms. Also “To-Die-For” — the Grilled Langoustine with fresh herbs, lemon, and olive oil; pan-seared Bronzino with cherry tomatoes and a tangerine reduction; and the Veal Scaloppini with Porcini mushrooms, brandy, and a hint of cream. Elevated Cuban-American Food — Spanish Style
Coral Gables’ first rooftop restaurant, raw bar, and cocktail patio is THE place to go for what the welcome sign dubs “Tranquilo Y Tropical.” Sitting atop the Coyo Taco restaurant and high above the maddening crowds of Giralda Plaza, Cebada is the brainchild of acclaimed Chef Jorgie Ramos and his dad, Jorge Sr. Lauded for its inventive food and playful “Miami-centric” craft cocktails, this trendy hang always keeps you coming back for more. It’s almost impossible not to giggle when you belly up to the bar and order creative concoctions like the “Every Belen Guy’s Christmas Vacation,” “Bro, Why Are Your Pants so Tight,” or “Relax, It Only Tingles a Little.” The food here is just as intriguing. Jorgie and Jorge Sr pull out all the stops with signature dishes that creatively infuse Jorgie’s Cuban-Spanish heritage. Think Squid-Ink Linguini; creamy Roasted Bone Marrow with salsa verde, crispy Baby Back Ribs with pimiento marmalade; and cornmeal-coated Spanish Fried Chicken, layered with guava butter. And that’s just the beginning. Great Raw Bar, too!

Miami native and winner of the Food Network’s hit show “Chopped,” Giorgio Rapicavoli infuses his Argentine and Italian heritage at what was originally one of Miami’s first “Pop-Up” restaurants. Rapicavoli’s remarkably creative menu includes cult classics like American Caviar; Salt & Vinegar Tater Tots with French onion creme fraiche; Pasta “Carbonara” — al dente pasta tossed with warm egg yolk, breadcrumbs, bacon, Parmigiana, and black truffle; and “Ken-Turkish” Fried Chicken with Green Goddess dressing and shawarma spice. Really yummers, and so are the specialty cocktails.

A Modern Take On Traditional Peruvian
Sharing is what it’s all about at this Peruvian favorite that ingeniously fuses
traditional Peruvian dishes with Asian influences. With over a dozen renditions,
the Ceviches and Tiraditos are especially good. Best Bets: the De Aji Amarillo — sashimi style fish cuts in lime juice with yellow pepper sauce; and the Trilogía De Ceviches — a trilogy of classic, yellow pepper, and cilantro ceviches. The Sushi
Rolls are also fab. You can make an entire meal out of the appetizers alone.
However, if you must choose just one, make it the Conchitas Parmesanas Batayaki. This amazing sea scallop flambé tantalizes with bubbling Parmesan and béschamel sauce. Really delish! Main dishes include classics like the Chaufa 3 Sabores (wok-fried rice with chicken, shrimp, beef, chives, pepper, and egg), as well as a big selection of seafood dishes. The Corvina A Lo Macho (grilled Corvino fish, seafood, and coral sauce), and the Langosta A La Mantequilla Trufada (grilled lobster tail and truffle butter with fettuccini, white wine, lemon sauce, capers, cherry tomato, olives, and parsley) are simply outstanding. In addition to the traditional Peruvian fare, pasta and seafood dishes, the menu also includes several oven and grilled specialties. Topping the chart: the 16 oz Ribeye Steak, a spectacular cut of Angus Beef grilled to taste; and the Calamares Y Camarones Al Hierro — grilled calamari and shrimp with garlic, olive oil, onion, pepper, and golden potatoes.

Outstanding Japanese-Inspired Izakaya
Celebrated Chef and restaurateur, Michael Schulson, is really shaking up Wynwood’s dynamic restaurant scene. Described as “Japanese Seaside Meets Philadelphia Grit,” his latest Miami outpost pays homage to the acclaimed restaurant’s original Philly roots. Schulson’s big, bold menu of small and large plates reflects his passion for Japanese fare. The inventive selection of sushi, sashimi, and robatayaki (food grilled at different speeds over Binchō-tan, white charcoal), as well as other imaginative entrées crafted from seasonal, Japanese-inspired ingredients, is all exceptional. Especially notable: the Japanese Scallop with onion ponzu and jalapeño oil; the big, flavored Cheesesteak Bao Buns (provolone cheese and cherry pepper relish); the crispy Japanese Fried Chicken with daikon, kewpie mayo, and miso powder; the Spicy Shrimp Taco with radish chili and avocado; and any one of the seafood or meat robatayaki. For a real treat, order up the “Chef’s Selection,” which includes ten dishes from eight categories, a choice of two Robatayaki (vegetable, chicken, pork, beef, lamb, or seafood), and a sweet serving of soft serve ice cream. Great selection of craft cocktails, wine, and sake, too!

Indian Cuisine, Redefined
This Michelin-recognized jewel from Celebrity Chef, Niven Patel, and business
partner, Mo Alkassar, is as good as it gets. Patel takes a more refined, contemporary approach to traditional Indian dishes and creates elevated flavors that are simply unforgettable. Seasonal vegetable dishes often include local produce harvested from Patel’s own farm in Homestead. Especially notable: the Samosas Chaat — a popular Indian street snack made with warm and crispy spiced samosa crumbles and layered with tangy yogurt, and classic Indian chutneys; the decadent Mushroom Momo — delicate dumplings with cashew sauce and crispy chili oil; the flavor-forward Bell & Evans Chicken Tikka Masala marinated in yogurt with a variety of Indian spices, and the charred and juicy Hangar Steak Kebab, marinated in house-made garam masala and roasted garlic. For a really immersive experience, order the special Chef’s Tasting Menu, which showcases thirteen signature dishes. For a real OMG moment, top it all off with Coconut Kheer, a creamy cardamom rice pudding with strawberry preserves, or Chef Patel’s famous warm Sticky Date Cake with jaggery toffee and ginger ice cream.

Miami’s Top Secret Omakase
Literally hidden behind a nondescript taco stand, this tiny, in-demand Omakase
is one of Miami’s coolest and most intriguing places to eat. At $300 per person, it’s also one of the most expensive. With only an eight-seat counter, reservations
are essential and not easy to come by. And get this: if you do manage to snag a seat, you’ll receive a special code on the day of your reservation to gain entry. The clandestine, immersive experience includes an eighteen-dish menu which includes outstanding made-to-order appetizers, sushi, sashimi, and nigiri — all crafted with seasonal ingredients imported directly from Japan. Making it all the more special is that you even get to pick out your own vintage “ochoko” cup for sake sipping. Just a fantastic night out — if you can afford it!

Upscale & Edgy Japanese
With a sleek, clean design by Alvaro Perez Miranda, a renowned art dealer
as well as one of Miami’s most prolific restaurateurs, this architectural masterpiece is as impressive as the restaurant’s elevated Japanese dishes and sushi. Inspired by the upscale eateries in Tokyo’s Ginza district, the sushi ninjas here are also masters at creating expertly prepared tempura, grilled premium meats, and several signature dishes. Special kudos go to the Sugata-Mori. Presented as a whole, rotating fish, the appetizer is perfect for sharing and comes loaded with succulent strips of sashimi that you pluck off the fish’s belly. For a real splurge, opt for the full-on Omakase experience, which includes one maki, miso soup, four appetizers, and ten pieces of nigiri. It ain’t cheap, but man oh man, is it terrific!

Modern Italian Comfort Cuisine
With locations in Argentina and Paraguay, this glam 7,000 square foot rooftop
bar and eatery are now “wowing” discerning diners in the Magic City. An opulent Italian design, velvety fabrics, exotic marbles, and lush plantings set the stage for a gastronomic journey through Italy’s northern and southern regions. Backdropped by a live deejay, high-energy dance music, and stunning views of Miami’s skyline, the 180-seat rooftop oasis is renowned as a vibrant jam with great, classic Italian fare. The dishes here are all prepared with fresh ingredients sourced from Italy and local markets. Top Picks: any of the handmade La Monferrina pasta preparations, as well as the show-stopping Ten Layers Lasagna with slow-cooked pulled short ribs and buffalo mozzarella. Other stand-outs include the Tagliolini Lobster with shrimp and pomodoro lobster bisque sauce; the Pesce alla Donostiarra — a whole, butterflied branzino fish with radicchio, fennel, and herbs salad; and the NY Steak “Au Poivre” — flavorful 14 oz Angus in creamy, black pepper sauce with spinach and thick-cut fries. Definitely worth the splurge!

Genre-Defying Asian Grill
Argentine culinary renegades Germán Sitz and Pedro Peña have now blown the
lid off Wynwood’s evolving restaurant scene. Originally launched in Buenos Aires, their genre-defying concept of an “Asian Grill with Argentine Soul” quickly leapfrogged to the 34th spot on Latin America’s 50 Best list. Fusing Argentine grilling with Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian flavors, the partners’ immersive concept is a rebellious take on Miami’s bold, bright flavors. With a theatrical interior wrapped in pop art, mirrored walls, clusters of red lanterns, and a soundtrack from the ’80s and ’90s, the wild vibe transports you to another place and time. But it’s the menu that really takes you on a quantum leap. Cult favorites include Dumplings stuffed with squid, veal, curry, coconut yogurt, edamame, and wasabi; Scallops with parmesan, truffle, tare sauce, and peach; the amazing Fried Rice with crab, Key West prawns, and bacon; and the succulent Peking Duck. Oh, and get this: What looks like a cigarette vending machine is actually the entrance to Dekotora, the restaurant’s hip Speakeasy & Sushi Bar. With shiso-scented spirits, rocket-fueled cocktails, and glittery ice cubes, it’s a whole other trip!

Authentic Indian Flavors With A Modern Twist
With three other restaurants in Chile, Rishtedar’s Wynwood location represents
the group’s first American debut. And boy, what a debut! Regularly cited as one
of Miami’s best Indian Restaurants, the food here is “the real deal,” created by talented chefs brought directly from India. Owner Vikram Thadani is a stickler for details, and it shows. His intimate digs tribute to his Indian heritage. Framed with colorful ceiling drapes, mosaic mirrors with stained-glass lanterns, it transports you
to another world where authentic Indian dishes feed the soul. Swoon-worthy
starters include the Johar E Motia (fresh mushrooms in a smooth white sauce
with delicious cashew nuts and a subtle touch of cardamom); Samosas (triangular-shaped cumin pastry stuffed with potatoes, vegetables, and Indian spices), and the Pacora Mix — a delish mash up of fried onion crisps, chili, eggplant, mushrooms, and Indian cheese in chickpea batter. Large plates are just as enticing. Favorites include the Butter Chicken in tomato cream cooked in butter and masala, the Mattar Paneer — a tangy vegetarian dish from northern India filled with peas and homemade cheese, and the Nathan Josh Curry — a famous Indian lamb dish marinated in onion sauce with spices and plenty of masala. FYI: The restaurant also hosts special Bollywood nights and dance classes, which add a fun and lively touch to the whole experience.
