Cabaret meets Gay Pride in high heels when “A Fabulous Evening with Lillian Baxter” returns on Wednesday, June 25 through Saturday, June 28.
As part of this year’s special Pride Celebration, the irrepressible Lillian Baxter, “Hollywood’s Favorite Has-Been” brings her one-woman Pride Parade to our Southernmost City once again.
Lillian sings the songs and tells tales that celebrate life on the road less traveled. Show tunes? You bet! Gay anthems? Why not! Fabulous costumes? As long as they’re within budget!
Presented by Fringe Theater in conjunction with Key West Pride, the whirlwind 70 minute production follows the ups and downs of the almost-famous Lillian Baxter whose career was careened from MGM to television and then to obscurity in the 1970s.
Sharing the stage for this colorful romp is Lillian’s faithful accompanist and favorite ex-husband, Corky Weinstopper.
Created by actor John Vessels and pianist Jay Schwandt, the fictional character of Lillian Baxter is a woman who always believes that “life is coming up roses” or in this Case, rainbows.
So buckle in, glitter up, and spend “A Fabulous Evening with Lillian Baxter.” Takes place at 7 pm at the Armory, 600 White St. Seating is limited so get your tickets pronto! Info and tickets: 305-731-0581; keystix.com.
