PorkysIf you’re looking for an authentic Keys experience, head over to Porky’s Bayside in Marathon. Originally known as Bill Thompson’s Villa and Marina, it was the place to be in the 1950s and hosted all sorts of famous visitors, including Ernest Hemingway, Jimmy Hoffa, and Elizabeth Taylor.

Today, the legend continues.

Overlooking Capt Pip’s Marina & Hideaway, this funky, open-air local hang is renowned for its rough-hewn waterfront setting, top live entertainment, and lip-smackin’, finger-lickin’ roll-up-your-sleeves bbq. (FYI: They’ve also just added a lush, full size 18-hole miniature golf course with an amazing coral rock waterfall! You can even rent a boat, jet ski or book an Eco-Tour here!)

Porky'sThe menu stars Porky’s famous house-smoked BBQ Pork and Beef, North Carolina Hot Pepper Pulled Pork, or Citrus Marinade Cuban Pork, all served as lumberjack-size sandwiches or in big baskets with your choice of sides.

If fresh local seafood is more your gig, the Lobster Bisque, Asian Seared Sashimi Tuna, and Florida Bay Jumbo Shrimp are also wonderful.

Porkys golfWhatever you choose, make sure to save room for Porky’s original, award-winning Fried Key Lime Pie – it’s a total out-of-body experience!

Porky’s is open daily, 8 am – 10 pm at 1410 Overseas Hwy, Marathon. Info: 305-289-2065; porkysbaysideBBQ.com.
