Some of America’s most celebrated Celtic musical masters take to the stage on Friday, January 7 through Sunday, January 9 for Marathon’s annual Florida Keys Celtic Festival.
The festivities kick off at 5pm on Friday, January 7 with a “Kilts in The Keys,” party at the Dockside Bar & Grill, 35 Sombrero Blvd. The West of Galway, Southwest Florida’s premier Irish party band, will rock the house until 7pm.
Fast forward to Saturday and Sunday when an all star lineup of musical heavy weights take to the stage at Marathon Community Park. In addition to West of Galway, other world-renowned headliners include the Scottish band Albannach, Byrne Brothers, and the high energy Screaming Orphans.
Other weekend activities include performances by the Drake Irish Dancers, the Police Pipe & Drum Corp of Florida, and the world’s only all-female drum corp: the Blue Sky Pipe & Drum Corps.
In addition to a fantastic musical lineup, you can also see an array of Highland Athletic Competitions, the Haggis Hurling Championship, and sheepdog herding demos. Other fun happenings include a festive parade, Irish Tea Garden and Children’s Glen, as well as lots of vendors showcasing unique Celtic merchandise, and authentic Celtic food and drinks.
