The illustration is the work of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, Jeff MacNelly who was one of Key West’s most famous snowbirds and whose work has graced the cover of Destination Florida several times before.
As a Syndicated Editorial Cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune, MacNelly received three Pulitzers Prizes in his lifetime. He also created the popular comic strip, “Shoe,” and illustrated Dave Barry’s column for The Miami Herald.
In addition to being syndicated in thousands of newspapers worldwide, Jeff’s political cartoons are still frequently reprinted in Newsweek and The New York Times.
Not only was MacNelly one of America’s most influential, sharpest wits and finest artists in editorial cartooning, but he is also arguably the greatest cartoonist of all time. His work is powerful, brilliant, deft, and always engaging.
