If you’ve never lingered over a torch-lit gourmet dinner on the beach of a small private island, maybe it’s time you found a new Latitude.

Backdropped by breathtaking views from Sunset Key and just a stone’s throw from Key West, Latitudes Restaurant is the signature restaurant of the Sunset Key Cottages and let me tell you; it’s one of the most romantic tropical restaurants you’ll ever experience.

But romance isn’t the only thing on the menu at this celebrated hang. The food is just as intoxicating.

Award-winning cuisine and an ever-evolving ”work of art” menu take a cue from the ocean views and lean heavily toward seafaring things like Saffron-Crusted Black Grouper, Crab-Stuffed Florida Lobster Tail, and Seafood Pasta.

There are plenty of land-based island entrees, as well, including items like Bone-In Black Angus Beef Tenderloin with gorgonzola scallion butter, Herb-Crusted Mountain Meadow Rack of Lamb and “Cooked Under A Brick Chicken” marinated in lemon and rosemary.

Truthfully, you really can’t go wrong with whatever marquees on Latitudes’ “can’t – miss” menu because everything here is consistently wonderful.

This unique “Destination Restaurant” can only be reached by boat. But no worries. The tiny 27-acre island (a favorite of Oprah Winfrey) provides a guest launch that departs from the docks behind Key West’s Margaritaville Resort & Marina.

FYI: Reservations for Latitudes are an absolute must. The time of your reservation is actually the time that you board the launch at Slip 29 behind the Key West Margaritaville Resort & Marina at 245 Front St. in Key West.

The private hideaway is just a quick 10-minute boat ride away, but it’s a world apart from the anywhere else. Reservations: 305-292-5394; OpenTable.com.
