Key West’s legendary La Te Da Cabaret is renowned for staging two of the world’s most famous Masters Of Illusion: Randy Roberts and Christopher Peterson. Both are celebrating their 25th and 22nd years here, respectively.

These are not drag shows, mind you. There is no lip-synching. Randy and Christopher sing all of their songs live while creating astounding illusions.

Randy Roberts

Randy Roberts has always been a bit of a ham. Starting with his stage debut in Norfolk, VA, in the Temple Israel Thanksgiving tableau, where he famously said “Turkey again, Oy!” he has been addicted to the spotlight.

Randy Roberts headdressFrom Las Vegas to San Juan, New York City to Madrid, Randy has dragged his drag around the world, entertaining audiences for over 35 years (that’s a lot of lip gloss) in casinos, cabarets, clubs, and theaters.

After finishing a sold-out summer stint in Provincetown, Randy is back in Key West celebrating his 25th Anniversary performing his one-man hit show — “Randy Roberts LIVE!”

“I call it a tribute to the most famous and infamous ladies of the stage, screen, and in my mind. I bring ‘Bette Midler,’ ‘Cher,’ and my own character, ‘Randy Roberts,’ to life.”

And he does it very, very well. So well, in fact, that he made it to NBC’s hit show, “America’s Got Talent,” and also appeared on ABC’s award-winning daytime drama, “One Life to Live.” And while Randy hasn’t made it to Broadway yet, he has co-starred with Alan Cumming in the indie film “Any Day Now,” and has appeared on nearly every stage in Key West – in and out of drag. As Howard Stern once said on America’s Got Talent, “He’s got the whole package!”

Chris Peterson

Now celebrating his 22nd year at La Te Da, Christopher Peterson’s hit show, EYECONS is one of the hottest tickets in Key West. Often compared to Jim Bailey, a legendary master of impersonations, Christopher Peterson is, without a doubt, one of North America’s foremost female impersonators — both visually and vocally.

Christopher Peterson headdressYou’ll be amazed by how he transforms himself into more than a dozen famous women right before your eyes with the help of his “magic closet.” Lady GaGa, Madonna, Lucille Ball, Tina Turner, Katherine Hepburn – you never know who will show up when Christopher takes to the stage.

His one-man, many-women extravaganza is so extraordinary that it landed him a leading role as Lucille Ball in the movie “Rat Race” with Cuba Gooding, Jr. Peterson’s parodies are just mind-blowing, and because he’s continually adding new characters to his show, it’s always a unique experience.

If you want to see two really fabulous live performances, make sure to catch Randy Roberts Live! and Christopher Peterson’s EYECONS the next time you’re in town.

You’ll find these two “Masters Of Illusion” at La Te Da’s Crystal Room Cabaret, 1125 Duval St, Key West. Tickets and info: 305-296-6706; lateda.com.
