The Key West Mermaid Festival is a new fin-tastic event that splashes down on Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 5th. With a fun, family friendly roster of events, the festival embraces mermaids and mermaid enthusiasts of all ages and also raises awareness for our beautiful oceans.
Thursday, July1
11am – Midnight Meet the Mermaids Kick-Off Pool Party
“Mer-mingle” and swim with mermaids, experience a Mermaid Swim Show, nibble on fantastic food and drink specials and party around the island’s biggest pool! Takes place at the Havana Cabana Resort, 3420 N Roosevelt Blvd.
12:30 – 2pm Swim with the Mermaids
Share a magical mermaid encounter with a professional mermaid! Learn mermaid sea-crets and swim with your favorite mermaids in the island’s very own mermaid lagoon, Havana Cabana. Takes place at the Havana Cabana Resort, 3420 N Roosevelt Blvd.
2:30 – 4pm Mer-Mingle Open Swim
Dive in for an Open Swim pool party! Tails will be available to purchase under the tiki, or bring your own! Takes place at the Havana Cabana Resort, 3420 N Roosevelt Blvd.
6 – 8pm Mer-Angler Cake Decorating Contest
Enter the realm of the deep as you are greeted by King Neptune himself. Meet the mermaids, and let’s all eat cake by the ocean! To highlight the men who support the mermaids, we created an event just for our MerAnglers; a cake decorating contest judged by the MerAnglers themselves! Come meet King Neptune in his This two hour evening event includes after-hours access to the famous Key West Aquarium, 1 White St. in the Historic Seaport District of Key West.
Friday, July 2
8am – Noon Breakfast with Mermaids
Enjoy a mer-verlous breakfast right on the beach! Includes drink specials, face painting by Reef Relief, a Mini Photo shoot opportunity with Brandee Anthony of Vero Beach Mermaid (see Workshops), mermaid entertainment, face painting, and so much more. There will be two different seating times (waves): First wave: 8 – 9:30am; Second wave: 9:30-11:00am. Takes place at the Southernmost Beach Resort, 1319 Duval St.
Noon – 1:30pm Swim with the Mermaids
11am – 1pm Following breakfast, our ‘Swim with Mermaids’ event is free, at the Barbary Beach House from the hours of 11am-1pm. Bring your tails, pfd’s, and mermaid spirits! Enjoy swimming, and sunbathing with mer-folk at one of the island’s most luxurious pools. Fin-tastic food and drinks available on the veranda. Takes place at Barbary Beach House, 2001 S Roosevelt Blvd.
7 – 10pm Blue Pool Party
7 – 11pm Come in your favorite hue of ocean blue and dance to the tunes of the best DJ in all of the seven seas. Enjoy food and drink specials and mermaids dressed up in their land legs as others lounge in tails by the pool. Enjoying the July sky light up with a fin-tastic electric blue light show. This event is shore to be a splashing evening! Benefits Reek Relief. Takes place at the Barbary Beach House, 2001 S Roosevelt Blvd.
Saturday, July 3
11am – 5pm Salty Saturday
Cool down in the lobby for an ocean of mermaid vendors selling their hand-made Who-zits and Whats-its Galore! There will be educational info on mermaid and swim safety, ocean conservation, authentic Shipwreck Treasures and coin jewelry, along with plenty of shell-fies with Mermaids and King Neptune, fin-tastic food, and drink specials on the veranda. Fun for all ages! Takes place at the Barbary Beach House, 2001 S Roosevelt Blvd.
7 – 9pm Mermaid Cocktail Party
Buy one drink and get one free including a special “Mermaid Water” drink to all those who are wearing or showing their mermaid spirit! Please drink responsibly. A portion of the proceeds benefit Reef Relief. Free admission! Takes place at Shots and Giggles, 201 Ann St.
Sunday, July 4
10am — 2pm Sunday Funday with Mermaids
Beach it up seaside, swim with the mermaids and kick back with great, music, sandcastle building and more. Takes place at Lagerheads Beach Bar, 0 Simonton St.
Monday, July 5
10am – 6pm Swim with the Mermaids
