If you’ve ever watched Key West’s Fantasy Fest Parade from Duval Street, you know just how crazy the crowds can get. For some, it can be,
shall we say, a bit overwhelming — especially along lower Duval. That’s why we always choose to watch the wild festivities at one of the island’s special viewing parties, far from the maddening crowds but still close to the revelers.
There are several parties along the parade route and most offer special VIP treatment. Our particular favorite is The Oldest House at 322 Duval Street where you can catch all of the revelry in total comfort — right from the beautiful front porch.
But a great viewing party isn’t just about the parade. At The Oldest House Porch Party, you also get to enjoy a full-course, sit down dinner prepared by one of the island’s top restaurants. Served under the stars in Lilly’s gorgeous private backyard garden, this is the perfect prequel to the raucous happenings to come. The full bar flows until 30 minutes after the last float and there are always plenty of beads for you to throw from the porch.
FYI: You’ll also have access to clean and private restrooms all evening long. Trust us, this is really important! Best of all, because this is an exclusive event with a very limited amount of tickets, there is never any crowding. At $225 per person, we think it’s the best deal on Duval.
This is always a sell-out event so be sure to reserve early! Info and tickets: 305-294-9501; thegardenattheoldesthouse.org.
